A PE (Polyethylene) gasket is a sheet-like sealing material made from polyethylene base material coated with adhesive. It offers excellent insulation, sealing, cushioning, and chemical resistance. Thanks to its lightweight structure, cost-efficiency, and ease of processing, it is widely used across various packaging and protective applications.

Key Applications

  • Protective Cushioning: Used as inner padding for fragile items such as precision instruments and glassware, reducing shock during transportation.
  • Food Packaging Seals: Function as a liner inside bottle caps to prevent leakage (must comply with food-grade standards).
  • Cosmetic Packaging: Commonly used inside caps of products like lotions or facial cleansers to enhance sealing and product stability.

Advantages

  • Strong Chemical Resistance: Suitable for various acidic and alkaline environments.
  • Good Flexibility & Cushioning: Excellent adaptability and sealing fit.
  • Great Low-Temperature Performance: Remains functional down to -70°C.
  • Cost-Effective: Ideal for high-volume applications at a lower cost.

Limitations

  • Limited Heat Resistance: Recommended operating temperature is -70°C to 80°C. Not suitable for high-temperature sterilization or hot-fill processes.
  • Moderate Sealing Performance: Not ideal for long-term or high-pressure storage requirements.
  • Primarily Auxiliary in Function: Often used in combination with other sealing solutions (e.g., pressure-sensitive or induction seals) to improve overall performance.
