Aluminum foil materials for packaging are mainly pure aluminum, aluminum alloy materials and coating or composite materials on the basis of the two, the following is a more detailed introduction:
Made of pure aluminum
1 series aluminum alloy: It is an aluminum alloy series with more than 99% aluminum content, and has a very high purity, such as 1060 aluminum alloy, the aluminum content reaches 99.6%. It has excellent electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, corrosion resistance and plasticity, non-toxic, the surface can naturally form a dense alumina film, can effectively prevent further oxidation, suitable for high purity and corrosion resistance requirements of pharmaceutical packaging.
Aluminum alloy material
3 series aluminum alloy: belongs to aluminum manganese alloy, typical such as 3003 aluminum alloy, containing a small amount of manganese, generally manganese content of about 1%, may also contain a small amount of magnesium, silicon and other elements. The addition of manganese improves the strength and corrosion resistance of aluminum foil, so that it can better withstand various stresses in the packaging process while maintaining a certain flexibility, and is widely used in various pharmaceutical packaging aluminum foil, such as PTP aluminum foil, aluminum foil layer in aluminum-plastic composite film.
8 series aluminum alloy: aluminum lithium alloy or other aluminum based alloy series with a small amount of other elements, such as 8011 aluminum alloy, usually contains a small amount of lithium, silicon and other elements. The addition of lithium can improve the strength of aluminum foil while reducing its density, and silicon helps to improve its processing performance, making it easier to roll and form, which is often used in pharmaceutical packaging for aluminum foil products that have certain requirements for weight and strength, such as some packaging aluminum foil that needs to maintain shape stability in a specific environment.
Coated or composite material
Coated with plastic aluminum foil: The surface of pure aluminum or aluminum foil is coated with a layer of plastic film, such as polyethylene (PE), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyester (PET), etc. The aluminum foil coated with PE has good heat sealing performance and flexibility, and can adapt to different packaging processes. Aluminum foil coated with PVC has good transparency and mechanical strength, and can be used for some packaging that needs to show the appearance of drugs; Aluminum foil coated with PET has higher heat resistance and barrier property, which is suitable for pharmaceutical packaging with higher environmental requirements.
Paper aluminum composite foil: Aluminum foil and paper are compounded together through an adhesive, combining the barrier properties of aluminum foil and the printability and flexibility of paper. Paper can provide a good writing and printing surface, easy to label drug information, but also to increase the texture of the packaging, often used in some packaging appearance and environmental protection requirements of the drug packaging, such as drug instructions, small packaging boxes and other parts of the direct contact with the drug can use paper aluminum composite foil.
Aluminum-plastic composite film: Generally made of aluminum foil and plastic film through dry composite, extrusion composite and other processes, common aluminum/polyethylene composite film, aluminum/polypropylene composite film and so on. This composite material gives full play to the barrier properties of aluminum foil and the flexibility and heat sealing of plastic film, and is widely used in blister packaging and strip packaging of drugs, which can effectively protect drugs from the influence of external environmental factors.
